Organizing the Room
Organizing the Room
One’s bedroom is the best place where a person can do anything inside without being disturbed. By organizing it to be safe and clutter free, it will be a place where one can relax, study and just feel comfortable.
Organizing the room can be done at anytime. It just needs the person to focus on the task at hand and finish it before doing anything else. Here are some tips;
1. The first thing to do is to clean up the room. There shouldn’t be anything like toys, books or shoes lying around so that the individual or anyone who comes inside will not trip on anything. These should be placed in their proper place such as the shelf or the cabinet. Shoes must be placed in a rack or under the bed so no one will accidentally trip when inside the room.
2. Old stuff such as clothes, books and other things that are no longer needed should be packed and boxed and placed in the garage for storage or given away to charity.
3. Dirty clothes must not be left lying around. Buying a basket or a hamper to put in the laundry will help the person not get confused between a new shirt or an old one.
4. School can be challenging with the many activities and the deadlines. The person can keep track of all of this by getting a corkboard to remember important dates.
5. The study area must be clean and organized. One should put pens, stapler, highlighters and pencils in a small drawer so they can easily be retrieved when needed.
6. Clothes must either be folded or hung properly in the closet. This should be organized by garments so one can easily use what is proper depending on the occasion and the weather outside.
7. If there is a phone in the room, this should be placed in an area that is easily accessible should someone call.
8. Important numbers must be placed near the telephone. This will make it easier to ask for assistance should anything happen at home.
9. Important files such as schoolwork must be kept in a safe place. These can be organized in folders or in a small cabinet so that they can be retrieved in the event they can be used again for future assignments. If there is a computer in the room, one should make sure that it is in a safe place to prevent it from falling accidentally, thus destroying the computer.
